The arrival of a new school year brings some changes. Most notably is the new dismissal bell tone (SO ANNOYING!), among other things such as a new freshman class, and, hopefully, a more spirited Centennial High School. In the past years, spirit at our school has been at an all time low. Ever since the Color Day Incident of 2005 and B2S Dance incident of 2008, students have become increasingly less involved. Spirit’s been so low that we haven’t even had a B2S2-like dance since the spring of 2008, and the pep rallies that have been instated are merely a futile attempt to bring the school back together.
This year, I hope things change. As a senior, I want to see all of my school events to be played out to their fullest potential. From the much anticipated B2S dance to the spirit week before Homecoming, we have a chance to make this year a memorable one for all classes to envy and to aspire to achieve.

The explosion led to the death of eleven workers and the submersion of the entire oil rig. Since the incident, oil has been continuously polluting and poisoning the ocean. It’s only a matter of time before the states are brutally affected.
Thousands of volunteers, wild life officials, idled fishermen, and National Guard troops are working to place floating booms, or protective barriers, along beaches and mouths of estuaries. They are all working together to get the big mess cleaned up in a collective effort, and, at the same time, are refraining from playing the “blame game” that would typically be associated with this type of situation. Their morals were high when a solution was proposed to put a four story high container over the leaking pipe, but after that failed, many are looking for a new solution.
The only thing left to be done is find an alternate solution. The pressure is on now to find a solution as the oil has already been pumping for three weeks, and many people are collaborating together to find a new way to fix the problem.
Though thousands of people are working on the issue at hand, oil is still making its way north and moving towards the states. Some oil is bound to make contact with the states. It’s impossible to stop it all, so the most anyone can do is work his or her hardest - Read more...
