2009 Graduation Speech

Thank you very much, thank you very much class.  I love you too.
This is without a doubt one of the highest honors anyone could receive.  And me being your custodian, I say thank you, and for every custodian in Howard County, I say thank you to you students.
(Pause for clap)
I’d like to say good evening to all our guests and colleagues and staff members and what great teachers we have. The administrators, Dr. Carl Perkins, Mrs. Shawn Hastings-Hauff, Mrs. Pam West, and Dr. Kevin Dorsey which I call him all the time, and Scott Pfieffer, nice to see you again.
Tonight, May 26 2009, I am honored to be speaking at the Class of 2009’s graduation.  When first asked to do this by some of our students: Em, Jen, Lacey, Christina, I was floored. I was like “you don’t want me to do that, cause you deserve such a bigger honor than that.” But after I thought about it, I was like, we have connected, the honor is mine to do this tonight.  I can tell you that it is the best thing that could have happened to me, so that’s why I’m here tonight.  The wonderful, smiling faces that greet me every morning, and every day. I’m so glad to see you to show you guys that the love that you all have shown me, I’m trying to show you back tonight.  I asked Dr. Perkins, with this being your first year here at Centennial, how did you feel about it.  He said, “give the people what they want.”
